BEEF STEW 
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 lb. beef or pork stew meat
2 tbsp. cooking oil
1/3 soup pan full of water
1/2 tsp. allspice
Salt
Pepper
1 (20 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 c. sliced carrots
1 c. sliced celery
1/2 c. chopped onion

Place flour in a plastic bag. Add meat cubes, a few at a time, shaking to coat. In a large saucepan, brown meat, half at a time, in hot oil. Put meat in Dutch oven (soup pan) that is 1/3 full of water. Add celery, onions, carrots, allspice, salt and pepper.

Add tomato sauce and bring to a boil. Turn down to medium heat. Cook for 1 1/2 hours. (Can cut up potatoes and set aside in cold water until they are needed.) Add potatoes. Cook for 1 hour. The longer it cooks, the better it tastes!
