TEMPURA BATTER 
1 egg yolk
2 cups ice water
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups flour

In a medium bowl, just before frying, combine egg yolk, ice water (without ice) and baking soda. Stir in flour. Mix well.

Dip the food to be fried into the batter. Fry in hot vegetable oil until golden, turning once, if needed.
