1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt then stir into the above mixture. Form stiff dough into balls about the size of walnuts.

Roll in topping mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
