FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/3 c. milk
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix, roll thin, cut and place a teaspoon of filling (below) on each cookie, not allowing it to spread to the edge. Place another cookie on top. Press down the edges and bake in shallow pans in a quick oven.

FILLING:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. water
1 c. chopped raisins, dates, figs, prunes, apricots or marmalade

Mix sugar and flour together. Add to other ingredients and cook until thick, stirring constantly.
