OLD FASHIONED TEA CAKES 
3/4 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. buttermilk
Pinch of salt

Cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to mixture. Stir in vanilla and salt. Add flour, about 1/3 at a time. Chill dough overnight. Pinch dough off in small amounts and roll thin on board dusted with powdered sugar. Cut in desired shapes and bake in lightly greased pan at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until slightly brown.
