CHOCOLATE DROP COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. Karo syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
5 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. flour
3/4 c. nuts, chopped

Cream the shortening and sugar. Add syrup, vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients and blend into the mixture. Add the nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
