BLACK & WHITE BARS 
1 c. butter or shortening
2 c. white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 oz. melted baking chocolate
Chopped nuts (optional)

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat. Add flour and salt. Divide batter in half. Add melted chocolate to 1/2 of batter and spread in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Carefully spread other half of batter over chocolate batter in the pan. (Can add nuts to either batter.) Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
