MEAT BALLS IN CHERRY SAUCE
MEATBALLS:

1 lb. seasoned pork sausage
1/2 c. bread crumbs
1 egg
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. instant minced onion
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 c. water chestnuts, finely chopped

SAUCE:

1 can pitted dark sweet cherries
1/4 c. orange juice
3 tbsp. brown sugar
3 tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. soy sauce
3 tbsp. vinegar (cider)
1/4 tbsp. cornstarch

MEATBALLS: Combine all ingredients and shape into about 3 dozen small balls. Brown slowly in large skillet without added fat. Drain well. Add to prepared sauce and simmer gently about 10 minutes. Serve hot. Electric "crock pot" works good on a buffet to keep them warm while serving. The flavor will surprise you!

SAUCE: Drain cherries and put syrup in large saucepan. Add other ingredients and mix well. Cook until clear and thickened, stirring constantly. Cut cherries in half and add to mixture.

Used at weddings and special family gatherings.
