GRANDMA C. MEIFERT STRAWBERRY
SUNDAE PIE
 
1 1/2 c. strawberries, crushed
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. gelatin
1/3 c. water
2 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. evaporated milk
1/2 c. water
1 c. sweetened whipped cream (sweeten with powdered sugar)
1 (9 inch) baked pie shell

Mix berries with sugar and lemon juice and let stand. Soak gelatin in water. Beat eggs, sugar and salt. Add milk and water and cook in double boiler until thick and creamy. Remove from stove and add gelatin. Cool. When it is ready to set, beat it until it is frothy and fold in the strawberry mixture. Pour this into a baked pie shell. Chill. When ready to serve, cover with sweetened whipped cream and decorate with a few whole berries, if desired.
