1 c. butter
2 c. soup applesauce
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. boiling water
2 c. sugar
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking soda

Cream together butter and sugar. Add applesauce. Sift together flour, cinnamon, cloves, and salt; add to creamed mixture. Mix boiling water with soda. Add flour mix and soda and water mix. Alternately add 2 cups chopped nuts and raisins, etc. to form a fruit cake. Can be divided to make small cakes. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or 3/4 of an hour if halved.
