2 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 c. dates
1 c. nuts
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp. butter

Cook sugar, milk, salt and butter to a soft ball stage (when dropped in cold water). Add cut up dates and heat until well mixed. Add ground nuts and beat until creamy. Pour on a wet white cloth and make a log roll. When almost cool, slice.
