2 egg whites Dash of salt 2/3 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips 1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat egg whites at room temperature in large mixing bowl until foamy; add salt. Gradually add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating until stiff peaks form. Fold in vanilla, chocolate chips and nuts. Drop mixture by heaping teaspoons 2 inches apart onto aluminum foil lined cookie sheets. Place in oven, turn off heat immediately. Do not open oven door for at least 12 hours. Gently remove cookies from aluminum foil and cool on wire racks, if necessary. Store in airtight container. Makes about 3 dozen. Makes 36 cookies. |
