3 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. water
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
6 drops food color

Write messages on slips of paper. Beat egg whites, sugar and salt together, add flour, vanilla, butter, water and food color, stirring well after each addition. Chill batter for one hour. Drop one teaspoon at a time on greased cookie sheet, spreading with back of spoon in circles (4" cookies). Bake only 2 to 6 cookies at a time. Bake at 375 degrees for 5 minutes or until edges start to brown. Take one cookie off at a time placing paper fortune in, add folding cookie half once then again.
