ROLY POLIES 
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together remaining ingredients. Add to first mixture and blend well.

Chill dough in refrigerator for 2 hours or until easy to handle.

When ready to bake, roll the dough into small balls and dip into a mixture of 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Bake on lightly greased baking sheet at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.
