Where can I find "plum baby food?" I have looked everywhere!

Hi J.,

If you can't find it in the baby foods section (in small jars) you'll be better off financially and taste-wise if you buy a few fresh plums, peel and pit them, then puree then in the blender. About 3/4 cup of the plum puree should do.

This is an Grand Prize Cake! I made it for the the state fair 25 years ago. Only problem now is Gerber no longer makes the Plumb baby food.

I may try to make my own plumb baby food pudding baby food just to make the cake. I was looking for something to do with a box of plumbs I just blanched and froze.

I think I will try it.

I've made this cake many times and now I use Plum/Apple baby food... just as good. You can also substitute baby food carrots and it's FABULOUS too!

This is a cake that my dad would make and I loved it! I haven't been able to find the plum baby food either. But I will try the plum apple or prunes that you'd suggested.

I just use baby food prunes. It's basically the same thing and the cake comes out great.

This is one of my favorite cakes, especially at Christmas time. My mother's old recipe was very similar to this one except hers had 1 cup of chopped pecans folded into the batter as the last ingredient. Oh, yummy! Unfortunately, you can no longer get the red plum baby food. I have used the prune baby food as a substitute.
