DEVIL DOGS 
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. bitter cocoa (powder)
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar together until sugar is dissolved thoroughly. Add egg, milk, and vanilla; mix together thoroughly until smooth. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture and beat with electric mixer.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drop mixture by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. When done, remove cookies from sheet and place on waxed paper to cool.

FILLING:

2/3 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. sugar (granulated)
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. evaporated milk

Add all ingredients together and beat for 5 minutes with electric mixer until fluffy and sugar is dissolved. Spread filling between 2 cookies.
