EAGLE CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in a little hot water
2 eggs
1 c. sour milk
2 c. flour

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, combine flour and spices, add baking soda mixture, add raisins. Mix in milk, mixing only until thoroughly blended.

Bake in tube pan or loaf pan, use tester to be sure of doneness. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 to 50 minutes. Serves 8 to 12.
