OLD FASHIONED CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
4 1/2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 stick butter

Cream 2 cups sugar and Crisco. Add eggs and 2 1/2 cups flour. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 cup milk. Mix well. Makes 5 layers.

For Icing: Mix 2 1/2 cups sugar, cocoa, 1 1/2 cups milk. 1 teaspoon vanilla and butter. Boil hard a few minutes. When stacking the cake, punch holes in the layers. Pour icing in the layers until you get to the last layer. Test the icing along and cook it until it's as thick as you like.

This was brought to my mother from my Aunt Beatrice.
