Your favorite recipe for a double pie crust, or ready made pie crust 1 lb. hamburger 3 med. potatoes 2-3 med. carrots 1 sm. onion Salt & pepper Divide pie crust into 4 balls or purchase 2 packages of ready made pie crust - 4 crusts. Set aside. Peel and dice potatoes and carrots into half inch pieces and place in a large mixing bowl. Dice onion and add to potatoes and carrots. Add salt and pepper to taste. Now add hamburger (raw) using your hands, blend all ingredients. Roll out pie crust or lay out ready made crust. Take a large handful of hamburger mixture, place on crust, fold crust over mixture to make a half shell. Now pinch or roll to seal in mixture. Repeat with remaining 3 crusts. Place pastries on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 1 1/2 hours. Serve 1 pastie per person, slice open, top with butter and ketchup. Serve with dill pickle of your favorite fruit (rutabagas can also be used with potatoes for extra flavor). |
