FRUIT SALAD WITH CHERVIL
DRESSING
 
Fresh or canned fruit such as pears, peaches, pineapple, melon, bananas, grapes, etc.
Sweet onion, chopped
2/3 c. white wine vinegar
1/4 tsp. marjoram
4 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. orange peel
1/4 tsp. lemon peel
2/3 c. olive oil
2 tsp. chervil

Pour vinegar into jar. Crush marjoram and add it to vinegar with sugar, nutmeg, orange and lemon peel. Shake well to dissolve sugar. Add olive oil and chervil. Shake again; pour over fruit. Makes 1 1/2 cups dressing. This can be served at once over salad greens, or let it stand for several hours or overnight. The orange and lemon peel are bought at the spice rack, fresh would be fine. Take your pick of any kind of fruit. The flavors in this dressing will go with almost any combination.
