SWEET & SOUR RED CABBAGE 
1 1/2 c. vinegar
4 whole cloves
2 tbsp. salad oil
Salt & pepper
1 onion, chopped
1 c. sugar
1 bay leaf
1 head red cabbage, sliced fine

Put sliced cabbage in vinegar first (to retain color). Add other ingredients, cook about 1 1/2 hours. (Adjust vinegar and sugar to taste.)
