GRANDMA'S MOLASSES CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
3 eggs
1/2 c. (dark) molasses
3 c. flour (not cake)
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Scant 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Scant 1/2 tsp. ginger
Scant 1/2 tsp. cloves
Scant 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 1/2 c. raisins, packed

Put the 2 1/2 cups raisins into saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil and set aside. Mix all of the above ingredients together except the raisin mixture. Mix well; drain liquid from the raisins and save the juice. Should have 1 1/2 cups liquid. Add cold coffee if not enough liquid. Add the liquid to the above mixture. Add flour coated raisins last. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Frost with cream cheese or a caramel frosting.
