DATE - NUT CAKE 
2 lb. dates
2 lb. English walnuts
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. white sugar
4 eggs, beat whites separately

Sift flour, salt, sugar and baking powder. Stir in dates, nuts, then eggs, saving whites until last. Bake in slow oven 1 hour. This was always a Christmas treat for my family.
