HAWAIIAN SALAD 
2 c. crushed pineapple, with juice
1 c. sugar
dash salt
1 pkg. unflavored gelatin
1/4 c. boiling water
1 pkg. whipped topping mix
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
mandarin oranges, as garnish, if desired

In a saucepan, combine pineapple, sugar, and salt. Cook 10 minutes. Let cool. Mix gelatin and water. Let cool until syrupy, then combine with pineapple mixture. Mix whipped topping as directed on package.

Cream the cream cheese and mix with whipped topping. Mix everything together and chill. Top with mandarin oranges, if desired.
