EVELYN'S OATMEAL DROP COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. raisins, cooked (using 5 tbsp. juice for liquid)
2 c. rolled oats (regular)
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda in liquid
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. baking powder

Stew raisins with enough water to make 5 tablespoons juice. Drain raisins and measure 5 tablespoons juice in container large enough to allow juice to foam up when soda is added.

Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat well.

Combine all dry ingredients EXCEPT oatmeal and soda.

Add soda to raisin juice.

Alternately add dry ingredients and liquid to creamed mixture. Add oatmeal and raisins

Drop on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes.

NOTE: Using Crisco will make a crisper cookie. butter makes a more moist cookie.
