DENVER BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1 c. whole-wheat flour
4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 c. milk

In a large bowl, combine flours, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar. Using pastry blender, cut butter into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add egg and milk, stirring with fork until smooth. Knead dough on lightly floured board. Roll dough out to 1 inch thickness and cut into 2 inch biscuits. Place in a greased 9 inch square pan and bake at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or golden brown.
