STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk

MERINGUE:

1 c. sugar
4 beaten egg whites

Beat egg whites until stiff, add sugar. Grease and flour sheet cake pan 13 x 15 inch. Beat butter and sugar for 5 minutes at high speed. Add yolks. Continue beating until batter is very light in color.

Combine flour and baking powder. Add alternately to batter with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Pour in pan. Cover batter with meringue. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with strawberries and whipped cream.
