DELUXE STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
sugar
4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. shortening (half butter)
1 qt. strawberries
whipping cream

Sift dry ingredients into bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture is fine. Add milk and stir with a fork until all the flour is moist. Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead gently for 20 seconds. Divide dough into two portions. Spread in 2 ungreased 9 inch layer pans or roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with lightly floured biscuit cutter for individual shortcakes. Brush with melted butter.

Bake at 450°F for 12-15 minutes for layers, or 8-10 minutes for individual ones. Spoon sweetened strawberries between layers and on the top. 10-12 servings. Yummy-Yummy!
