Measure into bowl:

2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 2/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk

Beat 2 minutes. Stir in:

3 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Add:

1/2 c. milk
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat 2 minutes. Pour into pans three 8 inch layers and bake 30 to 35 minutes in 375 degree oven.
