SHORTBREAD 
2 c. (1 lb.) butter
1 c. sugar
4 c. flour, sift this flour 4 times
1/4 tsp. salt
3 drops almond extract

Blend sugar and butter carefully with hand, mixing until all traces of sugar is dissolved into butter, add sifted flour gradually, one cup at a time, mixing each time by hand. Add almond extract. Roll out into any shape desired and to the thickness you wish them on lightly floured board.

Grease very lightly cookie sheets. Bake about 15 minutes in 350 degree oven. When cookies seem to be browning slightly on edges, they are done.
