SUGAR GEMS 
2 c. powdered sugar
2 c. granulated sugar
2 c. salad oil
1 lb. butter
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
9 c. flour
4 eggs

Cream sugars, butter and oil until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift or stir dry ingredients together. Add to first mixture; blend well. Roll into walnut sized rolls, roll in pan or plate of granulated sugar until covered.

Place on cookie sheet. Flatten to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick with cookie mold or bottom of glass. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Cool on rack and store in cookie jar. Makes 10 dozen.

This is an excellent sugar cookie, not too cake - like. Can be made and kept in refrigerator or freezer. Can premake into balls then thaw and roll in sugar, flatten and bake.
