FRENCH ONION SOUP 
5 lg. Spanish onions, chopped fine
1/2 stick butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. flour
4 cans beef consomme
1 can water
1/4 c. red wine

Saute onions with butter until soft. Stir in salt, sugar and flour. Cook at least 3 minutes and keep stirring.

Transfer to crockpot and add the beef consomme, water and red wine.

Cook on low 6 to 8 hours. Make toast (oatmeal or white), and cut up in squares. Add Mozzarella. Broil in oven until brown.
