CORNPONE PIE 
1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1 med. green pepper, slivered
1 (#202) can tomatoes
1 (#202) can or 1 1/2 c. kidney or pinto beans

CORNBREAD TOPPING:

1/2 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. oil
1 egg
Milk

Saute beef until brown; add onion and pepper. Saute just until limp. Add tomatoes and beans and let simmer while preparing topping.

Topping: Combine all ingredients using enough milk to make medium to thin batter. Place meat mixture in baking dish. Spoon topping over mixture.

Bake at 350 or 375 degrees until cornbread is brown, 20 to 30 minutes.
