FEATHER LIGHT BISCUITS 
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 tbsp. warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
5 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 c. buttermilk
Melted butter

Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside. Combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk, mixing well. Stir in yeast mixture. Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead 1 to 2 minutes. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness; cut with 2 inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet; brush tops with melted butter. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Yields: about 2 dozen.
