HOMEMADE KAHLUA
To make Homemade Kahlua, got some of this recipe from another user. Use to make a very simple recipe for years.

1 huge pot (bigger than a Dutch oven)
2 qts. water
7 cups white sugar
1/2 cups light brown sugar
1 cup instant coffee (your brand of whatever)

Mix together and simmer 1 hour, stir about every 15 to 20 minutes so it won't stick to bottom. Cool!

Add in:

1 qt 190% proof Everclear
2 oz Pure Vanilla extract
3 small bottles (tiny bottle like airplane) of Bacardi Rum (gold)

Stir altogether. Pour into bottles, set in dark, cool place for a month or longer.

Makes almost 4 quarts of Kahlua. Guys at the Liquor store LOVES it as they were my guinea pigs for about 2 years. Enjoy!!!

Takes about 3 hours total because of the cool down.

This is the best recipe for Kahlua I've tried but I make one small change. Since this one sits and ages anyway, if you have access to vanilla beans, you can save money and forego the vanilla extract by splitting a vanilla bean and putting it in with the alcohol. I make homemade vanilla extract for gifts and have found the best rule of thumb is one bean per each 2 ounce bottle of vodka allowed to infuse for a month or two. Of course, if you're only needing one bottle for this recipe, you may not want to invest in vanilla beans but if you buy them online it ends up being less expensive to make your own vanilla extract.
