1 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk with 1 tsp. baking soda added in separate bowl
1/4 c. melted butter
1 lg. egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
Sprinkle of salt
4 tbsp. cocoa

Melt butter in 8 x 8 pan. Mix sugar and cocoa add melted butter and eggs, do not beat. Mix and beat mixture. Add flour and buttermilk alternately. Bake at 350 degrees until edges shrink from pan. 1 (8 x 8) cake or 1 1/2 cupcakes.
