HOMEMADE ICE CREAM
2 1/2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. flour
Pinch salt
6 eggs
1/2 gal. milk
1/2 pt. whipping cream
1 tbsp. vanilla extract

Sift together sugar, flour and salt. Add eggs, one at a time, beating with fork in between each.

Meanwhile, heat 1 quart milk in double boiler on stove. Pour small amount of milk into sugar mixture, stir. Pour all back into pan on stove. Cook 20 minutes, stirring constantly. Do not boil (mixture will be thin). Remove from heat. Cover with wax paper. Put in freezer to cool. Stir occasionally.

When cool, add whipping cream, vanilla extract and stir. Strain into freezer. Add milk to fill to 2 inches from top. Freeze, using lots if ice and salt.
