CAKE DOUGHNUTS 
4 eggs
1/3 c. milk
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. Crisco
1 tbsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs thoroughly, add sugar, milk, Crisco and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients, mix until dough is smooth. Turn onto floured board, knead, roll 1/3" thick. Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Let rest 20 minutes; fry in hot Crisco oil.

While doughnuts are warm, dip one side into glaze made from powdered sugar, milk and maple flavor (if desired) or shake in cinnamon sugar.
