GRANDMA'S TEA CAKE | |
1/4 c. butter, softened 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. lemon extract 1 tsp. orange extract 4 c. all purpose flour 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. milk Cream butter and sugar, beating well. Add eggs, beating well. Add flavorings and beat until blended. Combine flour and baking powder, add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Mix just until blended after each addition. Divide into 4 portions, mash flat and wrap each portion in plastic wrap. Chill at least 2 hours or overnight. Work 1 portion of dough at a time, store remaining in refrigerator. Roll dough to 1/8" thickness between 2 pieces of wax paper. Remove top layer of wax paper and cut out with desired shaped cookie cutter and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes or until slightly brown edges. Cool. Yield: 5 dozen cookies. |
