OLD FASHION TEA CAKES | |
4 c. self-rising flour 1-1/2 c. sugar 1 c. shortening 1/2 c. milk 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract Preheat oven to 425°F. In a large mixing bowl combine all the ingredients and beat until well mixed. This will be a sticky thick mixture. Dough will roll easier if divided into 2 or 3 portions. Place each portion on well floured surface, sprinkle a little flour on top of dough and roll out to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Cut with 3 inch cutter, space cookies about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 7-10 minutes or until lightly browned on top. Yield: 36 large cookies. |
