CHOCOLATE PIE 
5 egg yolks
2 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. milk
2 heaping tbsp. flour
2 level tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. butter

Combine egg yolks (beaten) with milk, then mix sugar, flour and cocoa together and add to mixture. Add remaining ingredients and cook in heavy saucepan, over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick. Pour into baked pie shell. You may omit cocoa and add coconut for coconut pie.

MERINGUE:

2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. corn starch
1/2 c. water
5 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
6 tbsp. sugar

Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 tablespoon corn starch in small saucepan and add 1/2 cup of water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick and clear. Cool. Beat egg whites with salt and vanilla until mounds form. Gradually add the 6 tablespoons sugar beating all the while. Add corn starch mixture and continue beating until meringue stands in stiff peaks.
