THUMBPRINT COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all but walnuts thoroughly. Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts. Beat egg whites lightly with fork. Drop balls into egg white, then roll in chopped walnuts. Place 1 inch apart on greased baking sheet. Bake 5 minutes at 375 degrees. Remove and press thumb in middle. Bake 10 minutes more. While cookies are still warm put either current or raspberry jam in center.
