SOUR DOUGH BREAD AND ROLLS | |
In a large bowl make a stiff batter of: 1 c. starter 1/2 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. very warm water 1/2 c. corn oil 6 c. bread flour 1 tbsp. salt Grease another bowl, put dough in and turn over in oil, cover tightly with saran wrap. This will rise to be sure and use a big bowl. Let rise overnight. Knead on floured board or cloth. (I use waxed paper.) Grease 3 loaf pans. Divide dough and put into pans. Grease tops of bread with oil and cover tightly with saran wrap. Let rise 6 to 12 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Take out, brush with butter and enjoy! Variation - Cinnamon Rolls: Make same as for bread, roll out dough and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Roll up as for jelly roll and slice, place in baking pan and let rise 6 to 12 hours in warm place, same as for bread. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, frost with powdered sugar, milk, butter and vanilla. |
