GREAT GRANDMA'S POT PIE | |
1 pkg. stew meat 1 coarsely chopped onion 3 1/2 c. flour 1 c. shortening 1 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. water 2 med. potatoes, peeled and sliced 1 lg. mixing bowl 1 lg. boiling pot Boil stew meat until done, add onion while meat is cooking (about 3 hours). Add potatoes when meat is about done or done. In mixing bowl, cut flour into shortening until well mixed. Add salt and water. Add more flour until mix is of pie dough consistency, if needed. Knead dough 4-5 times. Roll out dough a little at a time, to 1/4 inch thick. Slice into 1 inch width strips. Cut into 1 inch cubes. Drop squares into boiling meat mixture, stirring after every couple additions. Cook about 15-20 minutes or until dough squares and potatoes are done. |
