MOLASSES CAKES 
1 pt. Brer Rabbit molasses (green label)
1 c. brown sugar, lightly packed
1 c. melted Crisco (scant) (measure after melted)
1 c. thick milk or buttermilk
1 tbsp. baking soda, dissolved in molasses
1/4 tbsp. cream of tartar, dissolved in thick milk
Little ginger
5 c. flour (plus a little more)

Refrigerate. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into round shapes with floured cookie cutter. Brush beaten egg over tops. Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes.
