NEVER FAIL CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 egg
1/2 c. salad oil
1/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 1/4 c. flour
Pinch salt

Beat egg and sugar. Add salt and salad oil. Mix well. Meanwhile mix cocoa, buttermilk and baking soda in a small bowl, add to first mixture. Beat together. Add flour, mix well. Add boiling water, mix well. Pour into 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. To make a 9x13 pan, double recipe.
