SOUR DOUGH STARTER | |
1 pkg. yeast 1 c. warm water 1/2 c. sugar 3 tbsp. instant mashed potato flakes Mix well in large jar. Let stand out of refrigerator all day (8-12 hours). This will bubble so do not cover tightly. Place in refrigerator for 3-5 days. Take out and feed the starter with 1 cup warm water, 1/2 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons instant potato flakes again. let stand out of refrigerator again. Take out 1 cup of starter at the end of the day to make bread. Return the remaining starter to the refrigerator for 3-5 days and repeat the feeding. If not making bread, take out 1 cup of starter and give away, or throw away, or freeze, but starter must be fed every 3-5 days. (Always leave jar covered loosely to allow gas to escape. |
