SPICED PEARS 
1 peck pears
3 lbs. white sugar
1 pt. vinegar
1 oz. cinnamon
1/2 oz. cloves

Bring sugar and vinegar (with spices in bag) to boil. Put pears in few at a time. Testing with fork to see if tender. When done, place fruit in jars. Pour hot vinegar over and cover tight.
