Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake

I made this years ago. Tonight I am baking one for a picnic tomorrow. I wish I could bring vanilla ice cream to serve with it but it will be pretty warm tomorrow. I am using Orange cake mix on top of the pineapple and cherry pie filling. Next time I make it, I will use chocolate cake mix with only cherries as the fruit. I will also use almonds instead of pecans.

I was so stoked to find this recipe on line, I made it for a fire fighter dinner and it was a huge hit. I liked reading the reviews below and will definitely try the chocolate mix with extra cherries, it will probably turn out like my moms German chocolate cake but made simply. Thanks for having this site.

Substitute Butter flavor cake mix for the Yellow cake mix and use Pineapple Rings instead of crushed pineapples.

Can not believe this is a real recipe. My aunt made this recipe for years before she passed away. I thought she left me with a secret family recipe (lol). I have a best friend who does not like sweets, but will eat this every time I make it. She requests that I make it. I also melt the butter and drizzle over the cake mix. I love this recipe and it's always a big hit at parties.

I used white cake mix instead of yellow because I didn't have yellow. It still came out great! Everyone loves this cake!

Checked out several dump cake recipes and this is the one I tried! It had been years since I had made a dump cake so I didn't have a recipe. I won't be checking out anymore recipes; this one is so delicious and sooo easy.

My Aunt taught me to make this cake, only she layered the ingredients. I can't remember the order - cherries first or pineapple. I know she drained the pineapple. She also made it in a 9x9 square glass pan so it was thicker. Really very good!

Winner! Been making it for over 30 years. I always have to make two at a time. Strawberry pie filling is my family 's favourite, but I've used blueberry, apple, and cherry of course. I'm an avid baker and I find no reason to modify the process. If I use apple pie filling I'll add nutmeg and cinnamon. I large can of peaches can be used (without the pineapple). I always have ingredients on hand to make this!!!
