GRANDMA'S BEAT CAKE 
4 eggs, separated
3 tbsp. cold water
1 1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. warm water
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. flavoring (any kind)
Sprinkle of salt

Beat egg yolks until creamy, add cold water. Beat, add sugar, beat, add warm water. Beat, add flour and baking powder sifted together, beat. Beat egg whites in another bowl until stiff. Add cream of tartar, flavoring, and salt to egg whites. Fold into first mixture. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees in a tube pan. Like a sponge cake.
